Your writing and garden
Memory Garden stores your reflections, moods, unfinished writing, garden and settings on your device. You do not need an account. We do not operate a service that receives or stores your journal.
Memory Garden does not sync your journal between devices. Your device’s backup settings may include app data in a device backup managed by Apple.
Voice input and search
If you choose voice input, microphone and speech recognition permission let your device turn speech into text. Speech is processed on your device. Apple may download the language files needed for recognition. Memory Garden does not save an audio recording or send your speech to an external AI service.
Journal search uses your saved text on your device. Search queries and journal text are not sent to us.
Apple features you choose
Widgets use garden names and pictures shared locally with the Memory Garden widget. Widgets and controls can appear on your Home Screen or Lock Screen.
Journal access for Siri, Apple Intelligence, Spotlight and Shortcuts is off unless you enable it in Settings. Enabling it allows those Apple features to find and read saved reflections while your device is unlocked. Archived entries and unfinished writing are excluded. Apple controls how its features process requests, and Shortcuts can pass text to other actions. Turning access off removes Memory Garden’s journal search index; it cannot retrieve text already used elsewhere.
Diagnostics and app performance
With your permission, Memory Garden shares diagnostic and performance information with Sentry to help us find errors and improve the app. This can include crash reports, technical stack traces, app and device information, session and launch counts, and sampled performance traces and profiles. Sharing is off until you choose to enable it, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings → Share Diagnostics.
If you enable sharing, Sentry may also record sampled session replays and replays associated with errors to help us understand how the app is used. Replays can include interaction events, such as taps and navigation, alongside technical activity breadcrumbs. We configure replay to mask the app screen, text, images and graphics, and we do not attach unmasked screenshots or view hierarchies. We filter journal text, drafts, moods and search queries from error reports and limit logs and metrics to technical information.
Sentry receives network information, including your IP address, when data is sent and may infer an approximate location from it. Diagnostic data can include session or installation identifiers and may be processed by Sentry outside your country. We use it to understand app reliability and performance, not for advertising. Sentry retains data according to the project’s retention settings.
Turning off sharing stops future reports. Deleting local app data removes the journal, garden and settings on your device but does not delete diagnostic data already sent to Sentry. Contact us with questions or requests about that data.
Feedback, exports and sharing
Send Feedback opens your email app with a message you can review and send. We receive the email address, message and any attachments you choose to send, and use them to respond and resolve the issue. Please avoid including private journal content. Support correspondence is kept only as needed to handle your request and meet applicable obligations; you can ask us to delete it.
When you export entries or share a garden, you choose the destination in your device’s share sheet. The recipient or service you select handles that copy under its own policies. Deleting data in Memory Garden does not delete exported files, messages or recipients’ copies.
Reminders and permissions
Optional reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not use a remote notification service. You can change reminders in Memory Garden Settings and manage microphone, speech recognition and notification permissions in your device settings.
Access and deletion
You can export your writing from Settings → Manage Data → Export Data as CSV. Delete All Data removes Memory Garden’s local journal, garden and settings. Device backups and copies you have shared or exported are managed separately.
